Bob JonesAcademy’s fall high school orchestra concert this year was a POPS concert featuring popular musical and film music. The 57-member orchestra played well-known themes from Star Wars, Fiddler on the Roof, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Sound of Music.
The orchestra includes 34 string, seven wind and nine brassplayers, four percussionists, one pianist, and one solo oboe. It is conducted by Mr. Philip Emory, a 2001 BJA graduate who is also the current assistant conductor for the Spartanburg Philharmonic. Assistant to the conductor Miss Amber Eubanks, who also serves as the program coordinator.
In addition to an evening of beautiful music, the audience was given the option of purchasing cheesecake and coffee or tea to enjoy as they listened to the featured selections.
At the conclusion of the concert, Mr. Emory surprised his girlfriend Dani Wuthrich (and the audience) with a proposal of marriage. By the way, she said yes.
