For the first time in Bob Jones Academy history, the high school varsity basketball teams participated in the Annual Christian High School Invitational Basketball Tournament, this year hosted by the BJU Bruins.Fifteen men’s and women’s teams competed, representing nine Christian high schools in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, West Virginia and New Jersey. The tournament is an exciting opportunity for these students to enjoy character-building competition as well as to connect with Bruins team members and explore athletic options at BJU.
The BJA varsity men’s team began the tournament with a loss to Parsippany Christian School. This put them in the consolation bracket in which they defeated the Inverness Christian School team. The men then went on to fall to Hampton Park Christian School in the consolation game.
The BJA varsity women began with a win against Inverness but were then defeated in the next game against Cross Lanes Christian School. The women’s final victory was against Hampton Park putting them in thrid place overall for the tournament. The team won the Sportsmanhsip Trophy as well.
