On Friday, October 10, the middle school girls volleyball team took on the Ducks of St. Mary’s Catholic School in a rematch of last year’s Carolina Middle School Conference tournament championship game. The Ducks won the tournament last year and entered this year’s game as the #1 seed and favored team. The Lions lost the first set, and it looked as though St. Mary’s might repeat. In the second set, however, the Lions found their game and won convincingly—setting up a third and deciding set. The lead went back and forth in that final set, and St. Mary’s had a lead at the 10-point mark. With the game ending at 15, the Lions needed to take control; and they did just that, winning the final set 15-11. Congratulations, BJA Lions MS girls volleyball team—2014 CMSC Tournament Champions! Belle Bryan and Tabitha Wheeler were named to the All-Conference Volleyball Team.
The boys soccer team finished the regular season in first place but lost to Langston Charter in the semi finals. The team went on to win the consolation game against Mitchell Road Christian and brought home the third place tournament trophy. Four boys were named to the All-Conference Soccer Team. Congratulations to Austin Huffman, Uriel Gomez, James McCarty and Blake Stephens.
