TopTechs, one of 10 BJA robotics teams, was selected as one of the top 20 teams internationally in the 2016-17 Wonder League Robotics Competition. More than 5,300 teams from around the world participated in the competition, which began in October. Five BJA teams of 6–8 year-olds and five teams of 9–12 year-olds tackled five missions, which included extensive coding and robot handling. All 10 BJA teams successfully completed the missions and were awarded perfect scores, which earned them a place in the Perfect Score Final Round early this spring. Of the over 5,300 initial teams, only 460 other teams advanced to the final round. For this round, students were expected to complete advanced coding build a functional delivery accessory for the robot, maintain a scientific journal with extensive documentation, submit their code, and a video of the robot completing the mission, and create a documentary video about themselves, their community and school, and their competition journey. These items were submitted to the competition headquarters and were also evaluated by a team of peers. From the teams who successfully completed these requirements, BJA’s TopTech team was chosen as one of this year’s top 20 teams. BJA congratulates all the members of the BJA robotics team for making it to the final round and to the TopTech team for their notable accomplishment.
