Video Summary & New Policy
Applies to BJUEG and BJU, Inc. employees with benefited children attending BJA:
South Carolina’s Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF) may enable your child’s BJA tuition benefit to be partially funded through the ESTF program. Qualifying families are to complete or renew an ESTF application for each qualifying child (age-eligible for K5 through rising grade 12) and direct the full ESTF funding toward BJA. Failure to do so will result in a charge of up to $1,000 of your benefited child’s tuition. A family that does not qualify should notify BJA of their situation. We are committed to provide the full tuition benefit for those who do not qualify for the program or whose application is denied.
Actions required by March 3:
1. Determine your financial eligibility as less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Guideline based on your adjusted gross income for 2023 or later (line 11 of your 1040 federal tax form):
2. If you are not eligible, email [email protected] by March 3 with “We do not qualify for the ESTF.” Please include the name/s of the applicable student/s in your household.
3. If you are eligible, complete the short application process.
Please note:
- The application is managed via FACTS Management. Please create a new FACTS account for ESTF purposes; you cannot use your BJA FACTS account for the ESTF application.
- Because the application reflects current legislation rather than the anticipated legislation, the following answers are appropriate:
- For “What type of school does this student attend in 2024-2025?” select “Other.”
- For “Please specify the type of school attended for the 2024-2025 school year” enter something like “anticipating new legislation.”
- Uploads required
- Federal tax return for 2023 or 2024
- Attendance verification (download report card from BJA’s FACTS Family Portal—after logging in, click Student then Report Card)
- Address verification (e.g., driver’s license)
- By March 3 forward to [email protected] the “Application Complete” email you will receive from FACTS Grant & Aid. Include the name/s of the student/s for whom you completed the application. This email should come after you’ve successfully applied and submitted the necessary documentation. Right now the processing seems to take a couple of days.
- During the school year you’ll direct the transfer of the awarded funds to BJA. Details of the process will be shared as information becomes available.
