Each community is unique, and the second-grade Tinyburg, USA, is no exception. Following a Heritage Studies unit on communities, second-grade students went to work to create their own community. From boxes to blocks and skyscrapers to sweet shoppes—Tinyburg, USA, was brimming with activity … and creativity too! Students identified landmarks in their community and then used a variety of materials to create them. There were airports, coffee shops, restaurants, veterinarians, clothing boutiques, a rural pumpkin patch and so much more. After strategically arranging roads and placing the buildings, the students presented their display for parents and fellow students to enjoy.
