Calendars. Appointment books. Alarm clocks. Watch signals. Cell phone alarms. Each of these directs attention to an appointed time —a single moment in time that has purpose or meaning. In the same way, God chose a special time in history to send His Son to earth; and at Christmas time, we celebrate His birth. Using a myriad of recycled objects, elementary and middle school students created ornaments depicting time and our theme, “The fullness of time.” Wooden numbers symbolize birthdates and other special dates in their lives, while blocks and nostalgic calendar banners further highlight time through the centuries. Nearly 35 working clocks adorn each tree—each clock uniquely designed to symbolically reflect the meaning of time in the life of that individual student. The trees are located in the lobbies of both the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville and Baptist Easley Hospital in Easley. Both exhibits are open through December 28.
“When the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law …” Galatians 4:4–5
