Miss Edith Smith, who taught English and Latin for over 40 years here at Bob Jones Academy, died recently at the age of 95. She was known for her leadership in the high school Inter Society Council and for her parliamentary skills. She was a highly intelligent woman who loved her students and loved BJA. Miss Smith is best remembered for her pursuit of excellence, her dedication to her students and her unselfish service for God. In 1979 she was the dedicatee of the high school yearbook, the Academian.
Even though current students did not know her or have the privilege of sitting in her classroom, they can share in the sadness of our loss and also rejoice in remembering the life of a faithful, godly woman who spent her life serving teenagers at BJA. May it be said of all of us one day that we loved God and served others just as Miss Edith Smith did.
