Ninth-grader Jeremy Edwards recently completed the Rank of Eagle Scout with 37 merit badges earned through the process. Jeremy started in Cub Scouts when he was in second grade and completed the Cub Scout program with the Arrow of Light award in 2013. He then joined Troop 245 at Lee Road United Methodist Church.
As a Boy Scout, Jeremy has held numerous leadership roles—such as Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He is currently the Senior Patrol Leader and is in charge of the troop and the meetings. In 2016 Jeremy completed the National Youth Leadership Training, and he has been trained to be a trainer in Leave No Trace.
Jeremy’s Eagle Scout project was to build four 10- by 12-foot camping platforms on the back pond at Asbury Hills Camp and Retreat Center located in Cleveland, S.C. Jeremy raised funds by organizing a neighborhood car wash; he arranged for Troop 245 to wash 37 cars in one day and was able to completely fund the project. The platforms took 6 hours and 12 people to assemble on site.
Jeremy continues to be involved in Troop 245 and in assisting the younger Scouts to improve on Scout skills and enjoying the outside activities
