BJA’s secondary athletics program not only teaches students about teamwork and other life skills related to the game, but it also provides a platform for gospel ministry.
Interscholastic sports provides one of our students’ largest platforms for gospel ministry. Much of that opportunity is through giving treat bags—which include gospel tracts—to visiting teams and their coaching staff. Coach Harwood shared several weeks ago that over 70 tracts had been shared to date. Students also give tracts to workers at the fast food restaurants that they visit after away games. We’re also thankful for the reports of students encouraging one another spiritually as they ride to and from games on the bus.
Thanks for praying for this opportunity and all the seed sown to bring good fruit—and that our guests truly would see Jesus Christ through the words and actions of our student athletes.
And kudos to our teams who have amassed an excellent record this season with a total of 46 wins, 2 tied games, and 12 losses as of this writing. The entire season of games and meets this fall will total over 100—busy indeed, but very fruitful. (Find our full roster of games here.)
Thank you for making the Lions’ athletics exciting! We look forward to the second half of our sports seasons and the opportunities to spread the gospel and play well for His glory.
