As you continue to enjoy your summer, we are scurrying around campus preparing for your return. There is new carpet and paint in the elementary building, newly painted Lions-blue lockers in the middle school, and a gorgeous new wood floor in the Academy gym.
During this inaugural summer, the EDUcamps, Jr. for elementary and middle school students have been tremendously popular (as have the established high school EDUcamps). EDUcamps, Jr. subject areas included Theater, Bug Biodiversity, Travel Through Time, Robotics and Technology, M&G Kids Create, and more. We even had 43 campers travel all the way from China to participate in three weeks of camp. All the campers have thoroughly enjoyed the camps and are making their plans to return next summer. If your children were unable to enroll, you will want to consider being a part of next summer’s program.
There are several new faces at BJA—we are introducing these new teachers to you through Facebook as they come on board. Thanks for welcoming them as they join the BJA team to serve you and your students.
Perhaps the biggest change is the move of the sixth grade from elementary to middle school. The administration and faculty are welcoming the 80+ sixth graders by adding a number of middle school electives to the program. The middle school is now right at capacity with the strong possibility that we will have to start a waiting list, and the space freed up in the elementary school is filling up.
We are pleased to begin our expanded partnership with PCS Music Artistry at BJU which will provide group and private music lessons for BJA students along with additional benefits and incentives.
Our theme verse for the year is Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Central to this verse are the responsibilities of loving God and loving others. Please pray that God will work in each of our hearts this year so that we shine brightly for Him.
