As Christians, we are often disturbed when pundits debate social issues on a news channel. It seems that the talking heads believe victory is awarded to the expert with the loudest bark and the most convincing case. Typically, the arguments are rooted in relativism. Many times we want to scream at the TV, “Look at what the Bible says!”
Recognizing that God has been banished from most public schools and universities, it is little wonder we live in a world that is “ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:7). We watch as knowledge, truth, and morality erode away in a rapidly accelerating avalanche. God pronounces judgment on those who ignore His truth. “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” (1 Corinthians 1:20)
At Bob Jones Academy, students are taught from a biblical worldview. All topics are viewed through a Bible lens. The absolute truth of God’s Word is acknowledged as the foundation for every discussion. This is readily evident in the subject of science but equally important in every other subject we teach. The Bible says:
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:13–17)
Education is not limited to the classroom but extends into the hallways and onto the ballfields. Our love for Jesus Christ and the principles of His Word govern the conversations regarding behavior. Part of our responsibility is to show our students how they can find answers to all of life’s questions in God’s Word.
Education is much more than the accumulation of knowledge. It requires the wisdom to use knowledge for good. The Bible tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and yet the teaching of God’s truth is missing from most schools today. At BJA, God and His truth are welcome in every classroom and in every discussion. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105).
Bob Jones Academy exists to assist like-minded Christian parents in challenging students to love Jesus Christ, to embrace God’s truth, to exercise integrity, to pursue excellence, and to serve others.
