Each year elementary school students forego the normal classroom gift exchanges and instead focus on giving to others in need. This year students worked together to provide Sunday school, office and nursery supplies for Congaree Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C. In October, the excessive rains and horrific flooding devastated the historic church. With flood waters as high as 9 feet and currents raging through the building, the entire interior of the building along with all its contents was lost. As the church begin to rebuild the structure itself, BJA students and their families generously donated hundreds of items to rebuild their supply of needed items, especially for their children’s ministries. On January 7, 2016, a group of students and several faculty members had the opportunity to travel to Congaree Baptist Church and deliver the items. Though the sight of the devastation was almost incomprehensible, it was a blessing to have an opportunity to help this ministry as they work to recover from the events of the previous months.
