Parent Night at the high school provides a unique opportunity for parents to walk through students’ entire school day, sit in their classes, and meet their teachers. Lunch is even included, with light refreshments provided and served by the foods classes! This year’s Parent Night will be held on Monday, September 11, in the BJA Quadrangle. First hour begins at 7 p.m., and signs and student officers help parents find the right classrooms as needed throughout the evening.
Because of the pace of the evening, with 10-minute “classes” and only 5 minutes to get to the next class, parents who desire a personal conference with a teacher can make arrangements with the teacher for another more relaxed time to converse.
To prepare for the evening and create your evening’s schedule, download a Parent Night Schedule. Then from NetClassroom add your student’s classes at the appropriate times and places, being sure to make the adjustments noted on the Parent Night Schedule.
For the convenience of parents, two other meetings are scheduled in conjunction with Parent Night. A meeting for parents of seniors desiring to go on the New York mission trip in April will be held in the Academy Auditorium at 6:15 p.m. (just before our regular Parent Night activities). Parents receive information about the trip itself and the preparation process for students interested in participating on the trip. For information as well as photos from previous trips, click here.
A parent meeting will also be held for parents who have a student who plans to compete on the speech and debate team this year. This short meeting will include information about competitions, competitor dress, and the BJA tournament. It will be held just after Parent Night at 9:05 p.m. in B107.
We trust that your visit to Parent Night will be both informative and enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you!
