Recently, US History classes enjoyed a guest speaker—James Harris. James is a member of a Civil War reenactment unit composed entirely of descendants of the men who were in that unit during the war. He helped to bring the Civil War to life for the students through his explanations of a soldier’s life in the Civil War and his stories about reenactments. A student in each class hour got to dress in the uniform and fighting gear of a Union soldier. Seeing the reality of the war gear brought the Civil War to life for each student.
