Attending classes is not the normal way most parents spend a Monday evening. But once a year the high school invites parents to come to “Parent Night” as a way to meet teachers and visit classes. Student leaders serve as sidewalk hosts and hostesses to help parents get to classes on time. Beginning at 7 p.m., the school day commences with 10-minute classes. Parents are handed a class schedule for their child, and they actually attend each class with the teachers. Most teachers spend the ten minutes introducing themselves as well as the class goals. At the point in the schedule at which lunch would occur, parents gather in the Quadrangle and eat scrumptious goodies made by the Foods classes under the direction of Katie Ward. Finally, at the end of the run of classes, the Speech and Debate parents hold a team meeting as their children would do after school. The overall atmosphere of the evening is both informative and fun!
