This summer high school students represented BJA and the state of South Carolina at national speech and debate tournaments. 
On May 13 and 14, Drew Petersen and Ben Nicholas attended the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in San Antonio, Texas.
In addition to competing together in Duo Interpretation, the students competed individually in Prose Interpretation. Ben advanced to the final round and received a Prose Finalist trophy.
On June 13–18, Daniel Leung, Drew Petersen and Ben Nicholas traveled to Dallas, Texas, to compete with over 3000 high school students in the National Forensic League’s National Speech and Debate Tournament.
Ben finished in the top 30 in the nation (quarterfinalist) in Poetry Interpretation and in the top 50 in the nation in Prose Interpretation.
